Choosing the Right Kalamazoo Product for Your Outdoor Gourmet Lifestyle
Do you want the convenience of gas AND the flavor of a hardwood flame? Do you use indirect grilling techniques in addition to direct? Do you love slow-smoked barbeque? Do you want a free-standing grill you can be proud of or a master outdoor gourmet kitchen with all the capabilities of your indoor one?
Answering these questions and a few more can help in selecting the right grill, grill island or outdoor kitchen for your outdoor gourmet lifestyle…
Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet builds free-standing grills, built-in grills, grill islands and outdoor kitchens. These grills were based on a century old design for a professional grill by Lewis Bullard, grandfather of Geoffrey Bullard, our founder and chief designer. While the core technology is the same between Kalamazoo 450 and 900 Series Grills, a 900 Series is twice the size of a 450 Series, and has twice the primary burners.
Which grill performance features are
right?
Convenience of Gas Grill with the the Flavor of a Hardwood Flame…
Then your best bet is a Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet Hybrid Grill.
Hybrid Grilling Drawer Systems are available in built-in
grills and free-standing grills or as part of an outdoor
kitchen. Kalamazoo 900 Series Hybrid Grills offer twice the grilling
area as the 450 Series, and comes with side-by-side
grilling drawers for the hybrid grilling system versus the single-drawer
configuration of a 450 Series.

Superior Indirect Grilling…
Although a Kalamazoo 450 Series is fully-capable of indirect grilling, the increased size of a 900 Series offers an advantage for indirect grilling.
With the primary burners alone totaling 100,000 BTUs, you can use
a powerful 50,000 BTU heat source while still having a generous
432 square inch indirect cooking zone away from the active burners
(not including the warming rack).

Infrared Searing Burner for Steakhouse Performance at Home…
The best steakhouses sear prime cuts of meat at well over 800 degrees
to lock in the juices and flavor. With our 22,000 BTU infrared searing
burner you can do the same at home. The searing zones on our grills
easily reach temperatures above 1,000 degrees, and are great for
more than just steak - fresh ahi tuna seared for just a minute on
each side makes for a fantastic appetizer or main dish off the grill.
Searing burners are standard equipment on our 900 Series gas
grills only (not available on hybrid models or any 450 Series Grills).

Powerful, Wok-Ready Grill Side Burners…
Our 32,000 BTU side burner is available for built-in installations, as a standard part of our grill island models and on some free-standing grill models.
Traditional, Side-Mounted Smoker Boxes…
Add the sophisticated flavor of orchard woods or slow-smoke with
traditional favorites such as hickory and mesquite with our smoker
box option, which can be added to any 900 or 450 Series free-standing grill. The integrated baffle system gives the outdoor gourmet
control of oxygen flow, smoke and heat balance, and exactly how
much smoke enters the grill body. The smoker box drawers provide
the ability to use wet or dry smoking techniques as well. The smoker
box can be used to add flavor to standard gas grilling techniques
or can generate 200 degrees of heat in the grill body without the
use of the grills burners.

Standard Grill Features…
All Kalamazoo 450 and 900 Series Grills feature a rotisserie system with infrared rotisserie burners and a convenient rotisserie cradle, but the rotisserie of a 900 Series can accommodate 50% more food.
All grills are available with laser-cut stainless steel grilling surfaces, configured to your choice of meat, fish, vegetable or hibachi cooking designs. Extra surfaces are available, and so is personalization with your initials, family crest or logo.
Our powerful and durable 50,000 BTU cast stainless steel Dragon Burner, deep hopper design, dual electronic ignition and all stainless steel construction are at the heart of every Kalamazoo grill.
All grills can be ordered for either natural gas or liquid propane fuels.
Knowing which of these capabilities are important to your grilling and entertaining style will help you select the right grill features. With the exception of the smoker box, all of these features are available on built-in grills, free-standing grills, grill islands and as part of an outdoor kitchen.
Built-in grill, outdoor kitchen or free-standing grill?
First, our built in grills feature the same deep hopper design and fully-framed construction as our free-standing grills. Kalamazoo built-in grills have leveling legs in the front and hidden wheels in the back for easy placement and superior accessibility in regards to maintenance and cleaning. Our unique built-in designs are compatible with any enclosure, but can be used without an enclosure.
Our custom outdoor kitchens combine any number of built-in grills with hand-built stainless steel modules such as sinks, refrigerators, wine coolers, warming ovens, storage cabinets and drawers and cooktops. All include stainless steel leveling legs as standard equipment, and are easy to bolt together and top with your choice of outdoor counter material. Modules can be reconfigured if necessary into new kitchen layouts, and kitchens can be built or expanded over time thanks to our intelligent modular design.
Lastly, our free-standing grills offer the repositionability some home owners need. All Kalamazoo free-standing grills that do NOT include side burners can be reconfigured as built-in grills if you ever wish to place them into a built-in surround, convert them into a grill island or add kitchen component modules.
