Cook with Charcoal, Wood and Gas — All at the Same Time on a Kalamazoo Hybrid Grill
Kalamazoo invented hybrid grilling technology, and to this day there is no other grill that so seamlessly combines the capabilities of a gas grill and a charcoal grill. Kalamazoo Dragon Burners™ deliver over 115 BTUs of grilling power to each square inch of the primary grilling area, so these are seriously capable gas grills. Above the burners are the Hybrid Grilling Drawers. For gas grilling, insert the ceramic-lined drawers to perfectly diffuse the heat. For charcoal and wood grilling, insert the wood rack drawers. The burners can be used to quickly and easily start the fire and then turned off, or they can be used throughout cooking to provide the heat while a handful of wood chunks lend all the flavor of an open wood fire.
Why choose between a wood grill, a charcoal grill and a gas grill when you can enjoy a Kalamazoo Hybrid Grill and have the best of all worlds?
For years the argument has raged on about charcoal and wood versus gas barbecues.
Which is better? Wood imparts flavor that gas on its own will not,
and gas offers convenience that wood or charcoal can't match. Rather than joining
the argument, we've engineered a solution… our exclusive and revolutionary Gourmet Hybrid Grilling Drawer System.
Kalamazoo's revolutionary hybrid grilling system
enables the serious outdoor gourmet to conveniently use any combination
of wood, charcoal or gas on one stainless steel hybrid grill.
Load charcoal or wood into the interchangeable drawers above the powerful cast stainless steel gas burners and the grill is ready for flavorful solid fuel grilling. Use the ceramic-lined drawers for gas-only cooking. Either way, cleanup is a breeze with our deep-hopper clean out system that funnels down to disposable aluminum drip pans.
No other grill combines the convenience of gas burners with a high-performance
charcoal and wood grill. If you like the flavor of foods cooked
with an open wood flame, a Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet Hybrid Grill may be right for you.
Hybrid grills are available in built-in and free-standing designs, and can be specified as part of a custom
outdoor kitchen.
How the hybrid grill drawers work:
Each pair of hybrid grill drawers includes one drawer for gas grilling
and one for charcoal or wood grilling.
-
Kalamazoo 450 Series Hybrid grill
models include one pair of hybrid drawers, using only one drawer
at a time.
-
Kalamazoo 900 Series Hybrid grill models include two pairs
of hybrid drawers, using two drawers at a time (in any combination).
Gas hybrid grilling drawers are lined with the same
high-performance ceramic heat retention briquettes you'll find on
our gas-only grill models. Using a Hybrid Grill with the gas
grilling drawer(s) in place is just like using any of our
gas grill models.
Charcoal/wood hybrid grilling drawers are lined
with stainless steel open air racks to hold charcoal or wood
above the gas burners. With the charcoal/wood hybrid grilling
drawers in place, you can grill with the solid fuel alone or supplemented
with the burners.
Taking advantage of the hybrid grill system:
The Gourmet Hybrid Grilling Drawer System can be used a
variety of ways…
-
Load charcoal or wood chunks in the charcoal/wood hybrid
grilling drawers, and use the gas burners to accelerate starting.
You'll be ready to grill much sooner than on a standard charcoal
or wood grill, and you can turn off the burners once the coals or wood
chunks are ready.
-
Load the charcoal/wood hybrid grilling drawer(s) with hickory
limbs, supplemented by the main burners underneath. Steaks grilled
over an open fire in this way can be seared quickly and benefit from the fantastic flavors imparted by wood.
-
Use charcoal in the wood/charcoal hybrid grilling drawer(s)
and take advantage of the unique design to redistribute or add
coals without disrupting the cooking surface.
-
On a Kalamazoo 900 Series Hybrid Grill, you can take advantage of the side-by-side
hybrid grilling drawer configuration to use gas alone on one half
of the grill and charcoal or wood on the other. Of course,
you can set up the entire 864 square inches for grilling with
a single fuel type.
