Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet™ Partners with Chef Rick Bayless at the 2008 Chef's Summer BBQ Festival
Chicago’s Green City Market Hosts the Annual Fundraising Event on July 17, 2008
CHICAGO, IL (June 30, 2008) – Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet™ is once again partnering with award-winning chef-restaurateur, cookbook author and television personality Rick Bayless at the 2008 Chef’s Summer BBQ Festival, an annual event to raise funds for Chicago’s Green City Market. Chef Bayless will be cooking on a Kalamazoo 900HS Hybrid Free-Standing Grill, the ultimate hybrid grill that allows one to cook with charcoal, wood and gas—all at the same time.
More than 50 of Chicago’s top chefs will prepare delicious tastings using Green City Market foods at this popular annual culinary event. Relying on the Kalamazoo’s 100,000 primary grilling Btu’s and more than six feet of ample grilling surface, Chef Bayless, a Green City Market Board Member for the past 10 years, will be serving approximately 2,500 guests from his station.
Now in its 10th season, the Green City Market is Chicago’s only sustainable green market and 501(c)(3) organization. A proactive venue with over 45 sustainable or certified organic farmers and thousands of shoppers, Green City Market features a wide variety of programming, from chef cooking demos to children’s programming to educational initiatives on well-being and good nutrition. The Market's incredible momentum comes from its broad base of support from conscientious and caring consumers, chefs, restaurateurs and other culinary professionals.
Tickets are $50 pre-event, $60 at gate and are available for sale at the Green City Market each Wednesday and Saturday from June 13th through July 11th. The 2008 Chef’s Summer BBQ Festival will take place on Thursday, July 17, from 6–8 PM at the south end of Lincoln Park, just north of the parking area, between 1750 N. Clark Street and Stockton Drive (the same location as the Market).
